Julián Contrera

Julián Contrera made his professional debut for Newell's Old Boys against Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero, having come through the club's youth and reserve ranks after starting out at Club Sportivo Ben Hur in Rafaela. The right winger's development took a significant step forward when Newell's sent him on loan to Uruguay, where he spent the 2024–2025 season with Cerro Largo. He made himself a regular fixture there, appearing in 34 matches and contributing a goal and four assists.

That test came at Sarmiento de Junín, who signed Contrera on loan from Newell's for the Torneo Clausura 2025, with the move including an option to buy and a contract running into December 2026. He was handed his debut soon after arriving, starting on the right flank in a 2-2 draw against Independiente at the Estadio Eva Perón, and stayed on the pitch until being substituted in the 64th minute.

His move to Sarmiento represents a second loan spell away from Rosario in as many years, and the option to purchase attached to the deal suggests the Junín club sees him as more than a short-term addition.
