Thiago Santamaría

Thiago Santamaría came through the youth ranks at Argentinos Juniors, signing his first professional contract with the club in December 2023 and making his debut the following January against River Plate. He established himself as a regular starter during the 2024 season under coach Pablo Guede, making around 28 appearances and scoring once — a goal in the Superclásico against Platense that stood out in his breakthrough year. His place in the side changed under Nicolás Diez, and he lost his starting role towards the end of that season.

In March 2025, the defender moved to Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle on loan, with an option to buy attached to the deal. He featured in both the Liga Pro and the Copa Libertadores during his time there, and was part of the squad that won the Liga Pro Serie A title. His form that season was recognised with an Honorable Mention in the Team of the Year for EA Sports FC 26.

In January 2026, Santamaría joined Sarmiento de Junín on a fresh loan for the season, with a return to Argentinos Juniors scheduled once the spell ends in December. A right-footed defender, he arrives at the club carrying the experience of a title win abroad.
