About the player
The only time he left was a loan spell at Gillingham between September 2020 and January 2021, where he made 12 league appearances.
He has since captained the side on occasion, including in a Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur, and helped Coventry reach the FA Cup semi-finals in 2023–24. His first senior goal came on 29 April 2023, in a 2–0 win over Birmingham City, and he was named in the Sky Sports EFL Championship Team of the Month that March.
During the Championship play-off semi-final against Sunderland in May 2025, a freak "dead leg" injury caused severe bleeding that led to heterotopic ossification — an extra bone roughly 10 cm long forming in his left thigh. The injury kept him out for four months before his return in September 2025. He nonetheless went on to make 34 Championship appearances and score four goals that season, helping Coventry City win the Championship title and secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.
