Juan Manuel Insaurralde

Juan Manuel Insaurralde has spent his career shuttling between Argentina, Chile, Russia and Mexico, but it is the two spells at Boca Juniors that define him. He first arrived at the club in mid-2010 from Newell's Old Boys and won the 2011 Apertura and the Copa Argentina before a move abroad. He returned in January 2016 and added the 2016–17 and 2017–18 Primera División titles, though by the second of those he was playing limited minutes.

In between, Insaurralde tried his hand in Europe. Spartak Moscow paid roughly US$4 million for 75% of his rights in July 2012, and he spent close to three seasons in Russia before a loan to PAOK in Greece, where the club held an option to sign him permanently but chose not to use it. A stint in Mexico with Chiapas F.C. followed before he went back to Boca.

His career then took him to Chile with Colo-Colo, where he won the 2019 Copa Chile, and later to Independiente. At international level, his involvement with the Argentina national team was brief: two caps, a debut against Ghana in September 2009 and a second appearance against Haiti the following April. He was named in the 30-man pre-nomination list for the 2010 World Cup but did not make the final squad.

Since joining Sarmiento de Junín in January 2023, Insaurralde has settled into a leadership role, wearing the captain's armband and passing the century mark in appearances for the club. In January 2026, he renewed his contract to continue playing through the end of the year.
