About the player
Jake Young is a forward who has built a career through the lower leagues, moving from youth setups to a professional breakthrough at Forest Green Rovers.
He started his footballing life with local clubs Shelley Juniors and Guiseley before joining the Sheffield United academy. It was his time at Forest Green Rovers that launched his senior career. Between 2020 and 2022, he made 51 appearances and scored nine goals.
In May 2022, Young signed a three-year contract with Bradford City, though his progress required patience. He spent time on loan at Barrow in January 2023, where he played 17 matches without scoring. There, he netted 16 goals in 25 games, earning EFL League Two Player of the Month awards in both August and November 2023.
By August 2024, Young had earned a permanent transfer to Stevenage. In January 2026, he moved to the Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on a deal running until the summer of 2027. He has since made 20 league appearances for the club, scoring two goals.
