Josimar Angelo Alcócer McCook

Josimar Angelo Alcócer McCook joined the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense academy at around nine years old and worked his way up through a loan spell at second-division side Juventud Escazuceña before making his professional debut for Alajuelense on 1 August 2021. Over the following two seasons he became a regular in the side, making 56 league appearances and scoring six goals, with his best return coming in 2022–23, when he found the net four times.

That form took him to Belgium in August 2023, when KVC Westerlo paid a fee reported at between €1.19 million and €1.3 million to sign him from Alajuelense. He took the number 77 shirt at the Pro League club and, across his first two seasons there, made 68 league appearances and scored five goals. Reports have since linked him with a move to AC Sparta Prague for the summer of 2026, in a deal said to be worth around €3.5–4 million plus add-ons, with the number 7 shirt reserved for him there, though the transfer has not yet gone through.

Alcócer has also established himself at international level with Costa Rica. He made his senior debut against Martinique in the CONCACAF Nations League in March 2023 and has since gone on to earn 16 caps and score three goals, including a goal against Paraguay at the 2024 Copa América, where he made two appearances. He was also part of the squad at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, playing four matches. At youth level, he won the UNCAF U-19 Tournament with Costa Rica's U-20 side in 2022, having earlier lifted the UNCAF U-15 Tournament in 2019.
