About the player

Ludovic Ajorque began his youth career at AS Excelsior in Réunion before crossing to mainland France to join the academy of Angers SCO, where he made his senior debut in 2014 with a single Coupe de la Ligue appearance. The following years were spent away from the first team, on loan at Vendée Poiré-sur-Vie and then Luçon, before a move to Clermont Foot in 2016: 19 goals in 65 league games over two seasons.

Strasbourg signed him in 2018 for €1.5 million. Over five seasons he scored 46 goals in 135 league appearances, finishing as the club's Ligue 1 top scorer of the 21st century. His best campaign came in 2020–21, when his 16 goals set a club record for a single season since 1996–97. He lifted the Coupe de la Ligue with Strasbourg in 2018–19, scoring in both the quarter-finals and the semi-finals.

A move to Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga followed in January 2023, for a fee reported between €6 million and €7 million. He was Brest's top scorer in his first Ligue 1 season there, with 13 goals in 31 appearances, and in February 2026 he was named Ligue 1 Player of the Month by the UNFP.

Ajorque has not been capped by the senior French national team, and in 2018 he turned down an approach from Madagascar.
