Lucas Matías Suárez Scalarea

Lucas Suárez Scalarea has spent most of his career on the move, learning the game away from the clubs that first signed him. Formed in the youth ranks at Rosario Central and Quilmes, he made his senior debut at Quilmes before a brief stint at Sarmiento de Junín and a single appearance for Defensa y Justicia. It was at Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, between 2018 and 2024, that he built his career, though even there loan spells took him elsewhere for long stretches.

The most productive of those loans came at Talleres de Córdoba, where he made 54 appearances and scored three goals in 2022–2023 after joining on a free loan with an option to buy. The move was converted into a permanent transfer in 2024, and he went on to add 19 more appearances in Talleres colours. From there, further loans followed further afield still: a year in South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns, and a spell in Uruguay with Liverpool F.C. of Montevideo, both in 2025. Now on loan once again at Sarmiento de Junín, this time from Talleres, he returns to a club he already knows from his early career.

Suárez Scalarea's only involvement with the Argentina national team setup came at youth level, as part of the squad for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
