About the player
Motiejus Burba learned his football in south-east England before he did so in Lithuania's top flight. After youth spells with Vilnius, Žaibas and Žalgirietis, he moved in 2016 to the academy of Crystal Palace. He then played non-league football for Sevenoaks Town and Lordswood before returning home.
Žalgiris Vilnius signed him in January 2020. A second league title followed in 2022. He also won the Lithuanian Cup once and the Super Cup twice with the club.
Game time came through loans. At Nevėžis in 2021 he played 32 A Lyga matches and scored once. At Džiugas Telšiai in 2023 he played 33 and scored three. At Sūduva in 2024 he made 32 league appearances, again with three goals, and 35 in all once the cup and play-offs are counted. He came back to Žalgiris for 2025 and scored four goals in 18 league games.
The senior national team followed. Burba was handed his Lithuania debut in November 2024, coming off the bench in a World Cup qualifier against Israel. He has won six caps, and one of those games was against the Netherlands.
His move to Kauno Žalgiris takes him from Vilnius to Kaunas.
