Mark Thomas Harris

Mark Harris scored in the 2024 League One play-off final against Bolton Wanderers, the goal that took Oxford United up to the Championship. It came in the first season of a deal he had signed as a free agent from Cardiff City in July 2023.

Harris was born in Swansea and joined the Cardiff academy in 2006. He turned professional in December 2016 and made his senior debut the following month. Across 2017 to 2023 he played 95 times for the club and scored 10 goals, nine of them in the league. He was sent out on loan to Newport County, Port Vale and Wrexham. At Newport he scored three times in 20 appearances, and at Wrexham three times in 28.

Oxford gave him a longer run. He was named League One Player of the Month for April 2024, the month before the final, and the Championship's Player of the Month for August 2024. His goal against Blackburn Rovers in the 2024–25 season was nominated for the EFL Goal of the Season. He finished that season as Oxford's Golden Boot winner, and he was top scorer at the 2025 Piala Presiden pre-season tournament. By early 2026 he had made about 149 appearances for the club and scored 31 goals.

His first career red card came in September 2023, against Port Vale, one of his former loan clubs. It was for an off-the-ball elbow.

Harris made his Wales debut as a substitute on 5 September 2021, in a 3–2 World Cup qualifying win over Belarus. He was named in the squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As of March 2026 he had 17 caps and had not yet scored for his country.
