Matúš Kmeť

Matúš Kmeť came through the youth ranks at Ružomberok, breaking into the first team in 2016 and staying through 2020, with a spell in the club's reserve side along the way. His progress took him to AS Trenčín, where he spent four seasons and had a loan year at Dubnica nad Váhom in 2021–2022.

In August 2024 Kmeť moved abroad for the first time, joining Minnesota United on a contract running through 2026 with a club option for a further year. His time in the United States was interrupted by a loan to Górnik Zabrze in February 2025, where he made 24 appearances before returning to Minnesota United in December that year; the Polish club had an option to buy him for €400,000 but chose not to take it up, citing his limited playing time and financial constraints. Before completing a permanent transfer to Baník Ostrava on 2 July 2026, he also spent time on loan at DAC Dunajská Streda. The move to Ostrava was sealed on a three-year contract to June 2029, with Minnesota United keeping a sell-on percentage.

Kmeť has represented Slovakia at every youth level from the U17s to the U21s, scoring three goals in six appearances for the U19 side. His senior debut came on 10 June 2025, in a friendly against Israel that Slovakia lost 1–0.
