Marco Schuster

Marco Schuster's route to professional football ran through the reserve teams rather than the spotlight. He joined FC Augsburg's academy in 2008 after starting out at BC Blossenau and TSV Nördlingen, and by the time he left the club in 2017 he had made 64 appearances and scored 4 goals for Augsburg's second team in the Regionalliga, without ever featuring for the first team despite being registered with the senior squad.

It was at SV Waldhof Mannheim, which he joined as a free agent in August 2017, that Schuster established himself. Over four years he made 100 appearances and scored 7 goals, and served as co-captain. In 2019 he helped the club win the Regionalliga Südwest title, securing promotion to the 3. Liga.

A move to SC Paderborn 07 followed in July 2021. In the 2. Bundesliga he was a regular starter, making 64 league appearances and 3 in the DFB-Pokal over three seasons, though the captaincy at Paderborn belonged to Ron Schallenberg rather than to him.

Schuster joined Hansa Rostock as a free agent in July 2024. He has since made 79 appearances across all competitions, scoring 4 goals, with 76 of those coming in the league and 3 in the DFB-Pokal. In 2025 he won the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Cup with the club. He has not represented Germany at youth or senior international level.
