About the player
Mathys Angély made his professional debut for Girondins de Bordeaux on 6 April 2024, aged 16. He had come through Bordeaux's academy since 2022, having spent his earlier youth years at ESA Brive and the Pôle Espoir de Talence.
Bordeaux's slide into administration later in 2024 cut that path short. Angély moved on a free transfer to VfL Wolfsburg in August that year, signing a contract that tied him to the German club for five seasons. He did not settle into Wolfsburg's first team straight away, and in February 2026 he was loaned out to Anderlecht for the rest of the season, with an option to buy attached. The move itself was delayed by a registration error in FIFA's data system before he could be cleared to play.
At Anderlecht he started with the reserve side, RSCA Futures, scoring once in four appearances before earning a promotion to the first team. He has already been capped by France at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 level.
