Romain Del Castillo

Romain Del Castillo came through the Olympique Lyonnais academy, which he joined in June 2012, and made his Ligue 1 debut for the club in November 2015 against OGC Nice before signing his first professional contract that December. Loan spells at Bourg-Péronnas and then Nîmes Olympique followed, and it was at Nîmes that he built the numbers, four goals and eight assists in Ligue 2, that persuaded Stade Rennais to pay €2 million for him in 2018. At Rennes he won the Coupe de France in 2018-19, though he did not feature in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.

It was at Stade Brestois 29, which he joined in August 2021 for around €1.5 million, that Del Castillo became the player he is now known as. Across 139 appearances for Brest he scored 30 goals, and he was central to the club's third-place finish in the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season, a result that took Brest into the Champions League for the first time in their history. He finished that campaign as the league's top assist provider. He carried that form into the 2025-26 season, sharing the role of Brest's top scorer in Ligue 1 with 12 goals, third-best in the division, and was nominated for the UNFP Player of the Month award in September 2025, an award that went to Florian Thauvin.

Del Castillo represented France at Under-21 level, earning ten caps between 2018 and 2019 and playing at the 2019 European Under-21 Championship. In September 2026 he left Brest for Osasuna in a deal worth a base €1 million plus €450,000 in variables, with Brest keeping a 15% resale clause, and signed a contract running to 2028 with an option for a further year.
