Robbie McKenzie

Robbie McKenzie scored the Gillingham Goal of the Season for 2024–25 with a strike against Walsall, having already taken the Goal of the Month award in December 2024 for another against Colchester United.

McKenzie grew up in Kingston upon Hull and joined the Hull City academy at nine. He signed a scholarship in July 2016 and, in November of that year, scored the only goal in a 1–0 Premier League Cup win over Derby County's Under-23s. His first-team debut came on 22 August 2017 in an EFL Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers.

Across three years at Hull he played 34 senior matches: 26 in the Championship, five in the EFL Cup and three in the FA Cup. He did not score. Hull released him at the end of the 2019–20 season.

Gillingham signed him on a free transfer on 21 August 2020, on an initial two-year contract. His first two seasons there ended in relegation from League One to League Two in 2021–22. He then turned down a new contract offer, but re-signed on transfer deadline day in September 2022.

Since then he has become a regular starter, and his versatility is what the club uses most. He has played at right-back, centre-back and defensive midfield. By January 2026 he had made more than 190 appearances for Gillingham. In May 2025 he signed a two-year extension that runs to June 2027.
