Stuart Adamson McKinstry

Stuart McKinstry scored the winning penalty on his senior debut. Coming off the bench for Leeds United against Fulham in the EFL Cup, he converted the decisive spot-kick as Leeds won a shootout 6–5. He added a single Premier League appearance that season, against Tottenham Hotspur, before his path away from Elland Road took shape.

McKinstry joined Motherwell's academy at the age of ten and moved to Leeds in the summer of 2019, a transfer reported to have cost an initial £150,000, with add-ons potentially taking the fee higher. He returned to Motherwell on loan for the 2022–23 season, made 21 Scottish Premiership appearances and scored four goals, and was named the club's Player of the Month for October 2022. Leeds did not renew his contract at the end of that season.

He signed for Queen's Park on a free transfer in 2023, making 20 league appearances in the Scottish Championship and scoring once. In October 2024 he moved on again, joining Hamilton Academical on a free transfer. He has since made 34 Championship appearances in his first season at the club and 15 more as Hamilton competed in League One.

McKinstry's representative career has stayed at youth level. He won four caps and scored once for Scotland under-17s, was capped by the under-19s, and received a call-up to the under-21 squad in October 2021.
