About the player
Šimun Mikolčić came up through NK Osijek's youth academy, which he joined in 2017, and spent his early senior years away from the club that developed him. Loan spells at HNK Cibalia and NK Široki Brijeg gave the midfielder the minutes and match experience Osijek felt he needed before trusting him with a first-team role: he was promoted to the Osijek senior squad in the summer of 2024.
He plays through the middle, either as an attacking midfielder or in a more central role, and has already been capped at Under-21 level for Croatia. Born in Vinkovci, he now wears the number 8 shirt for Osijek.
His career is still in its early stages, and the promotion to the senior squad marks the most significant step so far. The loan spells at Cibalia and Široki Brijeg did the job clubs expect of such moves.
