About the player
Tom Geerkens's career has taken him through a string of German clubs before he reached the level his youth football at Alemannia Aachen once promised. He came up through the Aachen academy, where he served as vice-captain of the under-19 side, before starting his senior career at FC Wegberg-Beeck, where he made 42 league appearances, scored three goals and helped the club reach the Regionalliga West.
A free transfer took him to Fortuna Düsseldorf II in 2021, where he made 48 appearances and scored twice for the reserves while also getting three outings for the senior side in the 2. Bundesliga. He joined Arminia Bielefeld in July 2023, then spent the second half of that season on loan at Wuppertaler SV, where a syndesmotic ligament injury disrupted his progress.
Geerkens found more stable footing at VfB Lübeck, whom he joined in September 2024. He became a key player there through the 2024–2025 season, helping the team win the Schleswig-Holstein Cup in May 2025. That form led to his move to SC Fortuna Köln in July 2025. He has made four appearances for the club in the 3. Liga so far.
