About the player
At 2.05 m, Tom Ritzy Hülsmann is among the tallest goalkeepers in European football. Born in Trier, he came through the youth ranks at VfL Trier and Eintracht Trier before Bayern Munich brought him into their academy in 2017. He worked his way up to Bayern Munich II, where he made 29 appearances, and signed a professional contract with the senior squad in August 2023, though he never featured for the first team.
The turning point came with a loan to SKN St. Pölten in July 2024. Across the 2024–2025 season he made 28 league appearances and one cup appearance.
In the 2025–2026 season he made 30 league appearances for Hartberg, kept ten clean sheets across 33 matches in all competitions, and was named Best Goalkeeper in the Austrian Bundesliga for the campaign. In June 2026 he moved to Stade de Reims in a transfer worth between €2.5 million and €3 million, the biggest sale in Hartberg's history.
He has not yet been capped by Germany at any level, senior or youth, and has not won a major team trophy. For now, his individual award in Austria and his imposing height remain the defining features of a goalkeeping career still taking shape.
