About the player
Tom Lacoux was still a Bordeaux player when the club went bankrupt, and that shaped the next stage of his career. He had spent his whole development at Girondins de Bordeaux, joining the youth system in 2016 and captaining the U19 side. He played for the reserves from 2019 to 2021 and signed his first professional contract in July 2020.
He made 59 senior appearances for Bordeaux. In August 2023 he went on loan to Famalicão in Portugal for the 2023–24 season, playing nine league games and one cup tie.
When Bordeaux collapsed, Lacoux left France and joined Hungarian side Újpest on a free transfer on 19 August 2024. He played 26 league games in his first season and scored twice. His first goal for the club came against Debrecen on 8 December 2024, in the second half of the calendar year he arrived.
The following season he made 22 league appearances and scored once. Across his two seasons in Budapest he played 48 league matches and scored three goals.
In August 2026 he moved on again, this time to the Croatian club HNK Gorica.
