About the player
Urara Watanabe (渡部麗) was in the Japan squad at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, where Japan reached the final. She won three caps for the Under-20 side.
She then spent six years, from 2015 to 2020, at JFA Academy Fukushima. From 2021 she played for Nittaidai SMG Yokohama, the club formerly known as Nittaidai Fields Yokohama, and stayed until 2024. During those years she studied at Nippon Sport Science University, so the 2022 World Cup came in the middle of her time there.
In February 2025 she left Japan for Djurgårdens IF Dam. The club announced her signing on 19 February, on a contract running through 2027. She plays in the Damallsvenskan as a right-footed midfielder.
Her path so far runs through a national academy, a university-linked club and an age-group World Cup, and it now continues at Djurgården.
