Wout Coomans

Wout Coomans came through the youth ranks at K.R.C. Genk, where he had joined after starting out at Penarol Engsbergen and Sint-Truidense V.V. He signed his first professional contract at Genk in January 2019, but the step up to the first team never came, and he left in 2022 without a single senior appearance to his name there.

The move that did open the door was a loan to K.V.V. Thes Sport Tessenderlo for the 2021–22 season, where he made 13 appearances. Genk let him go on a free transfer that summer and Thes Sport signed him permanently; in the 2022–23 season he was a regular starter, playing 32 league matches and scoring once.

On 1 July 2023, Coomans signed a two-year contract, with the option of a third, at MVV Maastricht. He has since passed 90 appearances for the club. His performances were rewarded in February 2025 with a contract extension to 2027, with a further option to 2028, tying his future to MVV for the coming seasons.

At international level, Coomans represented Belgium at youth level, picking up two caps for the under-17s during qualification for the 2018 European Under-17 Championship, followed by seven friendly caps for the under-18s across 2018 and 2019.
