AaB did the double in 2013–14, the first Danish club to take the league and cup in the same season, with Kent Nielsen in charge. It was the club's fourth Superliga title, following 1994–95, 1998–99 and 2007–08, and its third DBU Pokalen, after wins in 1965–66 and 1969–70.
The name predates the sport it now plays. Founded in 1885 as Aalborg Cricketklub, the club dropped the bat in 1899 to become Aalborg Boldklub, added a football section in 1902, and took its current identity, Aalborg Boldspilklub af 1885, after merging with Aalborg FBK in 1906.
Home games are played at Aalborg Portland Park, which holds 13,310 for domestic fixtures, 8,540 of those seated, and reverts to an all-seated 10,500 for internationals. Against neighbours Hobro IK and Vendsyssel FF, the fixture is known locally as the Nordjysk derby.
