Vendsyssel FF

Under the name FC Hjørring, the club took the 2. Division west group in 2009–10 with 73 points from 23 wins.

The first of those went badly. In 2017 AC Horsens closed the door on promotion; a year later Lyngby BK could not, and Vendsyssel FF reached the Superliga for the first time.

The current club is younger than the badge suggests. It dates itself to 1886 and a gymnastics society, Hjørring Gymnastikforening, which became Hjørring IF in 1921 and FC Hjørring in 2006. Vendsyssel FF — Vendsyssel Forenede Fodboldklubber — was formed on 24 June 2013 when FC Hjørring merged with Frederikshavn fI, pulling two towns in North Jutland into one senior side.

Karim Zaza finished his career here in 2014. The goalkeeper had been named the Danish league's best three times and had played for FC København, Brøndby and AaB before dropping down to Hjørring for the last of it. AaB matters twice over: they are the regional rival, based in the same corner of Jutland, though the fixture has never picked up a name.

Home is Nord Energi Arena, also called Hjørring Stadion, which holds 10,000 with 3,050 of them seated. The club plays in white at home, dark blue away.
