Nine men — former players and coaches of the town's old club — put their names to a new one in July 2022. Among them were Cristian Pustai and Erik de Oliveira. ACS Mediaş 2022 is not the successor of Gaz Metan. It took over most of the squad, the ground, and the ultras of Lupii Negri and Commando Mediensis , who simply carried on standing where they had stood.

Mediaş won Liga IV in Sibiu county in 2023, then went into the zonal play-off for promotion and beat CS Gheorgheni 5-2 in the final. That put them in Liga III, where they have played since, in Seria IX in 2023-24.

The cup has been shorter work.
