Corvinul Hunedoara

The ground carried his name until September 2024, when the stadium was renamed Stadionul Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara . It holds around 16,500, though only 3,000 of those are seats.

The club he came through was set up in 1921 as Fero Sport, on the initiative of Ludovic Rimbaș and with backing from the town's ironworks. That relationship ran through everything that followed, including the run of names — Metalul, Energia, Siderurgistul — each one a version of the same plant renaming its football team. One of the nicknames still in use, Echipa de sub furnale , the team under the blast furnaces, comes from the same place.

Two seasons later the side finished third in Divizia A and qualified for the UEFA Cup, where it knocked out Grazer AK before going out to Sarajevo.

Then it stopped. Debts got the club disaffiliated by the federation in 2004, and in 2016 a court wound up FC Corvinul altogether. The name sat unused until the municipality bought the rights to the brand for 47,000 euros in 2021, and a merger with CS Hunedoara the following year restored the line back to 1921.

That brought a Europa League qualifier against Rijeka. Promotion followed in 2026, as champions of Liga II.
