In 2007, players at Al Buqa'a walked away with a third-place league finish, the best the club has ever managed. That single season stands out precisely because everything else in the club's history runs the other way.

The Jordan FA Shield went the same way twice, in 2001 and 2008, and when Al Buqa'a reached the Jordan Super Cup final in 2014, Al-Wehdat beat them 0-2 on the way to a league-and-cup double.

Off the pitch the club has had a harder time than any of those finals suggest. Spells in the First Division have followed relegation, and in recent years players have protested unpaid wages. There is no official website, only an Instagram account carrying the black-and-white colours the team has worn throughout.

None of it carries the weight of the derby against Al Salt FC.
