Arezzo

Società Sportiva Arezzo had to be constituted again as a legal entity in 2018 — before the club could even register for the following season. It was not the first time. The present entity followed Associazione Calcio Arezzo, reformed in 1993 after an earlier collapse, which itself gave way in 2010 to ASD Atletico Arezzo when the finances failed again, then to Unione Sportiva Dilettantistica Arezzo in 2012.

The pattern is older than that. In 1930 the club merged with other Arezzo sides as Unione Sportiva Arezzo, was dissolved in 1933, and for two seasons from 1936 carried the name Società Sportiva Juventus Arezzo before reverting to Unione Sportiva Arezzo, the name it held from 1937 to 1993.

Through all of it, the club has reached Serie C three times: in 1968-69, in 1981-82, and again in 2025-26, the last of those won by the entity founded only in 2018. The 1981-82 promotion was followed by a Coppa Italia Serie C, and a Supercoppa di Serie C came in 2004. The two Serie D titles, in 1995-96 and 2022-23, mark the seasons the club worked its way back up after the bankruptcies that keep recurring in its history.

Home games are played at the Stadio Città di Arezzo, opened in 1961 as the Stadio Comunale and enlarged in stages over the following decades — 1965, 1982, 1992, 2004 — to its present capacity of 13,128.

The fixture against Siena is older than the football: the rivalry is traced to the medieval conflict between Guelph Florence and Ghibelline Arezzo, in which Siena's own allegiances put it on the opposite side long before either city had a club. The derby with Pontedera, and the one with Livorno, belong to a more recent Tuscan football map.
