In 2017 Avro lost the ground it had used for more than eighty years: the Lancaster Club site in Failsworth was sold for housing, and the club had to find somewhere else to play. It moved to Whitebank Stadium on White Bank Road in Oldham, now known as the Vestacare Stadium under sponsorship. The old ground's name was no accident — Avro started in 1936 as the works team of A.V. Roe and Company, the aircraft manufacturer whose Failsworth factory built the Lancaster and, later, the Vulcan bomber. The nickname stuck: the club is still known as the Vulcans.

What followed the move was a run unusual for a club of this size. Avro had already won the Manchester League Premier Division three times, in 2009–10, 2010–11 and 2017–18, but it took until 2023 to leave the Manchester leagues behind for good, beating Lincoln United in an inter-step play-off to reach the Northern Premier League Division One West.

Brandon Barker, who had played for Manchester City, Preston North End and Rangers among others, joined in 2025. Grant Shenton took over as manager the same year.

Avro finished the 2025–26 season as runners-up in Division One West and won the play-offs, which puts the Vulcans in the Northern Premier League Premier Division for the first time this season.
