BDF XI

The SSKB Stadium in Gaborone holds 5,000, modest even by Botswana Premier League standards, and it is where a club drawn from a military unit has settled for its home fixtures. BDF XI grew out of the Botswana Defence Force, founded a year after the force itself in 1978, its first squad built from players of the Botswana Police Mobile Unit rather than local schools or townships.

Between 1981 and 2004 the club won the Premier League seven times, a run that placed it among the country's three dominant sides alongside Township Rollers and Gaborone United, the trio known collectively as the Gaborone Big Three.

Kabelo Seakanyeng's four seasons at the club, from 2011 to 2015, produced the clearest individual mark of that later period: Premier League Player of the Year in 2013–14 and more than 60 caps for Botswana. Games against Mogoditshane Fighters carry their own local weight.

Since that 2013–14 cup run the table has been less kind: fifth place in 2014–15, eighth in 2016–17 and again in 2019–20. The championship has not been revisited since 2004.
