Buchbach

Aleksandro Petrovic came to Buchbach in 2010/11 after playing for Dynamo Dresden and coming through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich. The club won the Bayernliga Nord in 2011–12 during his first seasons, and that title took Buchbach into the Regionalliga Bayern, where he became the record player of the era. He later turned to coaching and took charge of the first team. Then he moved on to SpVgg Greuther Fürth as a coach.

The Regionalliga was not a level anyone in the village could have planned for. The TSV began as a gymnastics club in 1913 and did not add a football department until 11 January 1930. The climb began in the mid-1990s. Between August 1995 and May 1998 the side went 75 league games without defeat, a Bavarian amateur record at the time. Promotions followed. Buchbach finished second in the Bezirksliga Oberbayern-Ost in 2001 and 2003, won the Bezirksoberliga Oberbayern in 2003–04, and took the Landesliga Bayern-Süd in 2007–08, which sent them up to the Bayernliga.

Since 2012 they have stayed in the Regionalliga apart from the 2018/19 season, which they spent in the Bayernliga. The margins can be thin. In 2023/24 they finished in the relegation zone and only survived by beating VfB Eichstätt in the play-offs. A season earlier they had finished second.

The local fixtures are with SV Wacker Burghausen, the Inn-Salzach derby, and TSV 1860 Rosenheim. The SMR-Arena, formerly the Jahnstadion, holds 2,500.

Players still pass through to bigger clubs. Sascha Hingerl went to SSV Jahn Regensburg in January 2026, and his namesake Kevin Hingerl, a centre-back with 300 appearances, left for FC Gütersloh that summer.
