Budafoki LC

Before it was Budafoki, the side was Világosság Football Club, and by 1913 it had already become the Budafoki Atlétikai és Football Club. The name changed again in 1919, to Budafoki Munkás Testedző Egyesület, and it changed once more when the club became Budafoki LC in 1993. It was Budafoki MTE again from 2017.

Most of the time in between was spent in the lower divisions. Budafok won the third tier four times, in 1973, 1986, 1989 and 2017. The last of those titles came just as the old name returned.

The club nearly did not last to see the later years. It had merged with Újbuda FC to shore up its structure, and in 2015 Róbert Bélteky bought 95% of the shares and saved it from dissolution. In 2019–20 it was second when the pandemic ended the season early, and that placing took it up to the first division. The 2020–21 season in the top flight ended in 12th place and relegation.

The run to the 2022–23 Magyar Kupa final came from the second tier. Péter Beke scored a hat-trick in the semi-final. In the final Zalaegerszegi TE FC won 2–0 after extra time. Dávid Kovács, the club's all-time leading scorer, captained the side.

Home is the Promontor utcai Stadion, with 1,200 seats. The derby against Soroksári SC is known in Hungarian as the fővárosi derbi, the capital's derby. The red and black colours are still worn by a club that began under another name in the same district, Budafok.
