Founded in January 1950 as Spójnia Gubin, the club went through name changes almost by decade — Sparta, Polonia, Gubinianka, then Granica after a merger in 1966 — before the leather-goods enterprise Carina became its patron in 1975 and gave it the name it has carried, in slightly altered forms, ever since.

The honour the club returns to is the Lubusz Cup, won in 1963/64 and again in 1986/87. The third title, in 2022/23, arrived with a 5-0 final win over Czarni Żagań.

Carina reached the III Liga in 2021 and has stayed there since, playing in front of 2,000 at the Stadion Miejski, a ground with room for 454 seated.
