Warta Gorzów

Derby Gorzowa still carries the local weight in Gorzów Wielkopolski: Warta against Stilon, a fixture that outlasted a decade in which one of the two names disappeared from the football map altogether. Warta folded in 2002, undone by money, and did not return until 2008, restarting eight tiers down in Klasa B and rebuilding the club from there.

The name itself had already changed once before that collapse. Founded on 14 May 1945 as KKS Kolejarz, a railwaymen's sports club serving the city's rail workers, it became Warta in 1957 and added the KP prefix on its 2008 reactivation. The Kolejarze nickname stayed attached to that origin long after the railway link faded from daily use; supporters now call the team Warciarze, or simply the Bordowo-Granatowi for the burgundy and navy blue they wear.

Nothing in the club's record reaches the top two divisions. The nearest it came was the third tier, where a 5th-place finish in 1990/91 stands as the high point, preceded by four straight runner-up finishes between 1957 and 1960. Regional silverware fills the gap instead: district and voivodeship titles through the 1950s, then a long wait before the Lubusz Voivodeship Cup final started to feel familiar again, with Warta finishing runner-up there in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024.

Stadion OSiR, still known locally as Stadion Stilonu, holds 5,000 with 3,000 of those seated — a ground whose old name nods to the very rival Warta now shares the city fixture with. That overlap, the borrowed name attached to a stadium hosting the team it was named after, keeps the Gorzów Derby pointed as much at history as at the league table.
