Charlottesville Blues

Charlottesville, Virginia, sits in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the town's newest football side took its name and colours from them: blue and white, with a Virginia fox on the badge. The Blues held their launch party on 9 December 2023. The club was set up as a pre-professional side with an eye on higher divisions later.

Their first competitive match, on 26 May 2024 in USL League Two, was away to Lionsbridge FC. Lionsbridge had not lost at home since 2019, a run of 41 games. The Blues won 2-0, with Samuel Vigilante among the scorers. They finished that first season third in the Chesapeake Division with seven wins, two draws and three defeats. Graham Dougald was top scorer with six goals.

The supporters gather in a section called The Fox Den, and the club's sports bar carries the same name. For 2025 the team left the roughly 1,000-capacity field at St. Anne's-Belfield School for Charlottesville High School Stadium, which seats 3,500.

The club has looked beyond its own pitch from the start. Goalkeeper Greg Monroe signed with Hartford Athletic of the USL Championship in January 2024, after training with the Blues. In October 2024 the forward Josh Kirkland, from the University of Mary Washington, joined Richmond Kickers of USL League One, the first Blues player to sign a professional deal with a higher-level club. In April 2025 the club opened an Under-20 academy with Skyline Elite SC. Carolyn Warhaftig has been head coach of the women's team since its founding.

The rivalry that matters is with Virginia Marauders FC, another Central Virginia side in the same league. The 2025 season finale went the Blues' way, 7-0.
