Coleraine FC

The trophy that carries the most weight at The Showgrounds is the one Coleraine still keep chasing: the Irish Cup, won for the first time in 1965 and lifted six times since, most recently in 2026. The championship itself came only once, in 1974, and has never been repeated since.

The club's roots lie in a 1927 merger of two local sides, Coleraine Olympic and Coleraine Alexandra, but the name nearly disappeared entirely in August 2006, when the original company behind the club went into administration under the weight of accumulated debts. A group calling itself Friends of Coleraine set up a new limited company, Calver Holdings, to keep the side going under the same colours and the same name.

Matches against Ballymena United carry their own name, the A26 derby, after the road linking the two towns — a fixture that still draws more needle than most on the calendar.

The Showgrounds holds 4,843, of which 1,607 are seated.
