Eddersheim

Mathieu Freymann came to Eddersheim from the Eintracht Frankfurt youth system and stayed from 2013 to 2017.

He joined a side that had already been through the Hessenliga once. In 2012, after three second-place finishes in the Verbandsliga Hessen-Mitte (2007, 2009 and 2012), Eddersheim finally went up to Tier V. They dug in for the 2012–13 season but finished 17th and went straight back down. Promotion back came in 2018.

Before any of that, the club climbed slowly through local football. The B-Klasse title came in 1937, only six years after the FC 1931 Eddersheim founding on 12 December 1931. War then stopped the team: it withdrew from competition in February 1940 when the players were called up, though the youth section carried on until then. After the war the footballers spent a short time merged with the gymnasts and split from them in 1947. The A-Klasse title of 1971 brought promotion to the Bezirksliga, and the Kreisliga A followed in 1982. The Bezirksliga Main-Taunus was won in 1996 and the Bezirksoberliga Wiesbaden in 2002.

The nickname, Staustufenkicker, comes from the weir on the Main beside the ground. Eintracht Frankfurt came there for friendlies in 1991 and 2003, and 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1993 and 2002. Marcel Kaffenberger played for the club from 1999 to 2003 and later moved on to both of those professional sides.

Eddersheim, in black and white, are still in the Hessenliga in the 2025–26 season.
