St. Pauli II

The closest St. Pauli's second string has come to a trophy is the Hamburg Cup final of 2007/08, and they lost it 1-0 to ASV Bergedorf 85. From 2008/09 reserve sides were barred from the DFB-Pokal, so a run that would once have led into the national competition led nowhere.

The side has spent most of its time since 2008 in the Regionalliga Nord, the fourth tier, though it has also dropped to the Oberliga Hamburg and the Verbandsliga Hamburg. It plays in Norderstedt, at the 5,068-seat Edmund-Plambeck-Stadion, outside the city whose Kiez district gives the team its name. Supporters call it the "Kiezelf" or the "Kiezkicker" after that neighbourhood. It wears the brown and white of the parent club, founded in 1910, and has no crest of its own.

Its purpose is to prepare players for the first team, and a few have made it. Max Kruse played there in 2009 and went on to Borussia Mönchengladbach and the Germany squad. Michael Gregoritsch was loaned to the side in 2013–14 and became an Austrian international. Benny Hoose took over as head coach in April 2024 and led the team through the 2024/25 season.

The fixture that matters most to the supporters is the Stadtderby against Hamburger SV II. It is the reserve-team version of the senior rivalry between the two Hamburg clubs, with the same city and the same colours on opposite sides, played out in the fourth tier. Holstein Kiel II, another Regionalliga Nord side, is the other regional opponent.
