Enfield Town

Enfield Town exist because a group of supporters walked away from a ground. When the original Enfield FC left Southbury Road in 1999, the Enfield Supporters' Trust decided the club's management no longer had the town's interests at heart, and on 23 June 2001 they formed a new club of their own. That made Enfield Town the first fully fan-owned and fan-run senior football club in England. Matches with Wingate & Finchley carry a similar edge.

The Towners started out at Goldsdown Road before moving to the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in 2011, a ground that now holds 2,500. Promotion followed promotion in the years around that move — into the Southern League in 2004–05, the Isthmian League Premier Division in 2011–12, and the National League South in 2022–23.

Liam Hope remains the club's all-time top scorer, with 108 goals scored between 2009 and 2015, and Rudi Hall holds the appearance record. More recently, Muhammadu Faal scored 24 goals in 25 games in the 2019–20 season before Bolton Wanderers signed him, and Marcus Wyllie won the National League South Golden Boot in 2023–24 before his move to Gillingham.

What began as a stand against one boardroom's decision over a stadium is still run by the supporters who made it.
