«The Deres»
Erith & Belvedere did not appear out of nowhere in 1922. It was the product of a restructure of Belvedere & District, which had been formed four years earlier. The club kicked off its own existence on August 26, 1922, with a 3-1 home defeat to Chatham Town. The nickname 'The Deres' stuck as a shorthand for Belvedere.
Life on Park View Road has been defined by disruption. The original ground in Belvedere was destroyed by fire in 1997. The club moved to the current site in Welling in 1999, sharing the venue with Welling United. The capacity is listed at 4,000, though some sources suggest 4,500. The kit remains blue and white striped, a constant through the rebuilding.
Trophy cabinets tell a different story. The club won the Corinthian League Memorial Shield three times in a row between 1948 and 1950. More recently, they claimed the Southern Counties East League Premier Division title in 2023. The Kent Amateur Cup has been won six times, including a double in 1966 and 1967.
Despite the silverware, the club has never broken into the professional leagues. They remain in the non-league pyramid, chasing promotion.
