Evergreen

Loudoun United II play a few miles up the road in the same Virginia county. They do not. No derby has formed, and Evergreen's story has run along a different line: the club kept changing its name while staying in Leesburg.

For five seasons, from 2016 to 2020, it was Evergreen FC, and supporters called the side the Hammers. The name arrived with a rebrand in 2015 and lasted only until 2021, when the club became Northern Virginia FC and moved to black as its colour. Through all of it the team played at the Evergreen Sportsplex.

The best league result came before the Evergreen name existed. In 2013 the side won the South Atlantic Division, which put it into the playoffs of the Premier Development League (PDL), now USL League Two. It did not go on to take the national title. The club had joined that league in 2006.

The US Open Cup gave the club its most recent notable afternoon. In 2022 it beat Lynchburg FC in the first round, then lost in the second to the Richmond Kickers.

All of this grew from the Northern Virginia Royals, who began in 1998 as a local side. Everything since, including the rebrands, has been a change of name on that same club.
