FC Seoul

The K League decided in the mid-1990s that its clubs should spread out beyond the capital, and so in 1996 the LG Cheetahs were sent to Anyang, a satellite city south of Seoul. They spent eight seasons there, won the championship in 2000 under the name Anyang LG Cheetahs, and reached the AFC Champions League final in 2001–02. Then, in 2004, they went back — to a stadium built for the World Cup two years earlier, with a new name that dispensed with the corporate one altogether. FC Seoul has played at Seoul World Cup Stadium ever since; the ground holds 66,704.

The company that started the club in December 1983 was Lucky-Goldstar, and for a time the side carried the name Hwangso — bull. That corporate lineage still runs the fixture that matters most: the Super Match against Suwon Samsung Bluewings, LG against Samsung on a football pitch.

Six league titles have come under four different names.

Dejan Damjanović scored 184 goals for the club; Go Yo-han made 446 appearances. Choi Yong-soo, who played for the club and later managed it, took the side to the 2013 Champions League final.

Twice in the final of Asia's main competition, twice beaten, and no continental title to set beside the domestic ones.
