FV Ravensburg

Kingdom of Württemberg football in the 1890s took shape around town clubs formed within a few years of each other, and FC Ravensburg was one of them, entering the same year as VfB Stuttgart. It became FV Ravensburg in 1918, and the name has carried the club through more than a century in regional and mid-level football.

The one occasion that stands apart came on 8 June 2016, when Ravensburg beat FSV 08 Bissingen 5–2 to win the Württemberg Cup, having lost in the final twice before, in 1971 and 1972. The win sent the club into the DFB-Pokal for the first time, where FC Augsburg ended the run 2–0 in the opening round. Rahman Soyudoğru, an academy graduate who had gone on to spells at Sivasspor and SCR Altach, scored in that final; he returned to Ravensburg as head coach in July 2025.

Promotion has come twice through league form rather than cup runs: the Verbandsliga Württemberg title in 1998 and the Landesliga Württemberg IV title in 2005, both lifting the club into the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg, where it has now been settled continuously since 2013. Steffen Wohlfarth, who had played as a striker for SC Freiburg and FC Ingolstadt 04 before joining in 2013, was part of that 2016 Cup-winning squad and later managed the side from 2017 to 2022; the current cooperation with SC Freiburg's youth setup grew out of that same period.

Ravensburg's old city rival, TSV Ravensburg, now sits in the lower divisions and no longer meets the first team, leaving VfB Friedrichshafen as the standing regional rivalry and SV Oberachern as the club's current opponent for Oberliga points. The Oberliga table this season has Ravensburg in 4th place.
