Galanta

It began as Galántai Sport Club, became Galántai Sport Egylet in 1925, and turned into Galántai Levente Egylet during the Hungarian occupation of the region between 1941 and 1944. The current name, FC Slovan Galanta, arrived only in 1993.

The club plays in white and black at the Mestský futbalový štadión Galanta, a ground built for 7,500 but licensed for 3,000 on matchdays. In 2026 it won the 3. Liga (West) and returned to the 2. Liga. The only earlier trophy on record goes back much further: in 1937, the club won the Esti Újság Cup, beating Ligeti SC Bratislava 1-0 in the final.

The academy's best-known graduate is goalkeeper Dominik Takáč , who came through the youth ranks between 2006 and 2014 before winning the Slovak title with Slovan Bratislava and being named the Superliga's best goalkeeper for the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons; he has since been called up to the national team. Since July 2026 the first team has been run by Mikuláš Radványi , who started out as a youth player at the club in 1983 and later took Komárno into the top flight before returning home.

On the pitch, the fixture that matters most in Galanta is against ŠK Šala, a few kilometres down the road. Locally it is simply the susedské derby — the neighbours' derby.
