Germania Ratingen

Ratingen finished second in the Verbandsliga Niederrhein in 1999 and second again in 2000. The second took them up to the Oberliga Nordrhein, then the fourth tier, and they spent 2000/01 there, finishing 12th. They went down in 2004.

The club, Ratinger Spielvereinigung Germania 04/19, has been through several changes of name. It began in 1904 as FC Alemannia Ratingen and was later absorbed into TV Ratingen and then TSV Ratingen. The present club dates from 1965, when SpVgg 04 Ratingen and ESV Germania Ratingen merged, and blue and yellow are the colours.

Before the 2000 promotion there had been a smaller climb, to the Verbandsliga in 1997. Earlier still, the side were runners-up in the Bezirksliga Niederrhein in both 1972 and 1973. Since 2012 they have been back in the fifth-tier Oberliga Niederrhein, and in 2025/26 they finished second there.

Moses Lamidi, who retired in 2024, scored 31 goals in 143 appearances for the club. He played through the years in the fifth tier, after the season in the Oberliga Nordrhein had passed.

The women's team has its own silverware. It won the Niederrheinmeisterschaft in 2005, which took it up to the Regionalliga West, and followed with the Niederrheinpokal in 2006.

Ratingen's rival is VfB 03 Hilden, and the Hildener Derby is the fixture both sides circle. Hilden had won the last six meetings as of 2024/25.
