Gimhae City

Gimhae sits at the western edge of Busan's orbit, a city of Gyeongsang province. The team that carries its name started as an arm of the city administration — Gimhae Si-cheong FC, the city hall side — and entered the Korea National League in 2008, a year after it was set up in 2007.

For most of that time the club kept arriving at finals and leaving without the trophy. The National League play-off final went against them in 2009, then twice more, in 2017 and 2018, both defeats to Gyeongju KHNP FC. The first title came in 2020, in the K3 League, and it came at the expense of the same opponent: 2-1 over two legs.

The move upwards took another four years. Gimhae won the promotion play-off in 2024, dropped the city-hall name for Gimhae FC 2008, and from 2025 have played in K League 2 as a professional club. They took a second K3 title in 2025.

Since September 2024 the club has played at the Gimhae Sports Complex, a 15,066-seat stadium built for the 105th National Sports Festival. Red and gold, listed as Fashion Red and Heritage Gold, were presented as the official colours in February 2026.

Yoon Sung-ho held the job from 2017 to 2023. Son Hyun-jun took over in 2024 and won it in his first year.
