H&W Welders

Men from the welding department at the Harland & Wolff shipyard in East Belfast raised a team among their own workmates, wanting something that carried the yard's name past the slipways. The first match followed on 25 September 1965, and the side has stayed on the pitch under that same name ever since, with no gap and no rebuild.

The kit is amber and black, the colour of the cranes that stand over the yard, and the nickname that followed was simple: The Welders.

Silverware came early — the Clarence Cup in 1969 — and mostly at intermediate level, where the club spent much of its history before working through the pyramid. The Irish Intermediate Cup was won twice, in 2003 and 2007, the Steel & Sons Cup twice more, in 2011 and 2016, and the Smirnoff-sponsored B Division Knock-out Cup three times between 1998 and 2002. A title in the IFA Championship 2 in 2010, along with its league cup, marked the step up the pyramid; the Welders now play in the NIFL Championship. The most recent piece of silverware came from the under-20s, who lifted the George Wilson Cup in 2018.

Blanchflower Park, also known as Blanchflower Stadium, has been home since 2021. It holds around 2,000.
