In Skövde, handball carries the furthest in sport. The men's team of the same association won the Swedish Cup in 1987 and the EHF Challenge Cup in 2004. Both sections belong to Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Skövde, which was set up on 23 September 1907, and both wear the blue and white that gives the football side its nickname, Blåvitt .
Football at IFK Skövde is a lower-league business. The local rival is Skövde AIK, and the meeting between the two is known simply as the Skövde derby.
Sargon Abraham took a similar road in the early part of his career, played in Allsvenskan and Superettan for other clubs, and came back to Skövde in late 2025.
IFK Skövde beat Utsiktens BK of Superettan, a division above their own, 3–2.
