There was no derby to inherit in Yumbo. The club that arrived in the town at the start of 2026 brought a licence rather than a rivalry: the ficha deportiva of Atlético Huila, a side that had played since 1990 and twice finished runner-up in Primera A, in 2007 and 2009.

Independiente Yumbo was registered on 11 December 2025 and began operating on 1 January 2026. Its first competitive season was in Primera B, and it won nothing.

Home was the Estadio Municipal Raúl Miranda, called the Guachicona until 2017. The players wore white shirts with dark green shorts at home, red and white away, and a lavender third strip.

By July 2026 the arrangement had come apart. The club moved down the valley to Palmira and took a new name, Independiente Valle del Cauca, tying itself to the department rather than to any one town.
