Indonesia Women

The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) put together a women's national side in 1975 — the team did not get its first serious outing until the AFC Women's Championship two years later, where it reached fourth place. It repeated that finish in 1986, then dropped out of the tournament entirely for 33 years. The return, in 2022, produced a 0–18 defeat to Australia.

The team plays as Garuda Pertiwi, in red and white, and has settled at Stadion Madya in Jakarta, a ground that holds just over 9,000 — though matches have also gone to venues in Palembang and Bandung when needed. Regionally, the Southeast Asian Games record reflects that: fourth place is as far as the side has gone, in 1997, 2001 and 2025.

The bigger shift has come against a different, less punishing measuring stick. In 2024 Indonesia won the AFF Women's Cup for the first time, beating Cambodia 3–1 in the final, and defended it in 2026 with a 5–0 win over Laos — the first team to retain the title. Safira Ika has been the constant through this stretch, with a record 44 caps, while Claudia Scheunemann 's nine goals lead the squad's scoring column.
